BMW have eschewed the trend for a folding hard-top and given the 2-Series Convertible a classic cloth roof, triple-insulated to improve refinement.

The 2-Series Convertible is available with a wide choice of engines, but it's the 220d tested here that we'd recommend.

The 2-Series Convertible retains the front-engine/rear-drive balance common to most BMW's.

The 2-Series Convertible should be safe due to it's 1-Series underpinnings.
