The 6 Series is a fantastic cruiser, with compliant suspension thanks to adjustable dampers and the fantastic eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The 650i will return a claimed 32.9mpg from the 444bhp powerplant, but this might be difficult to achieve in real-world conditions.

The car stays fairly flat through the bends and can handle fast corners with ease, but it can feel ungainly if you require more spirited changes of direction.
The steering feels solid and helps the car feel planted, but it doesn't relay much information back to the driver.

Cosmetic changes are difficult to spot, especially at the rear with only light tweaks made.
The 650i will sprint from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and go on to hit 155mph thanks to its 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8.

Cabin is generously appointed, with lashings of leather and an attractive design.
Inside, M Sport models get a sports steering wheel, digital dials, high-gloss plastics and plenty of leather.

The 6 Series is more of a 2+2 rather than a genuine four-seater because only small children will be comfortable in the rear seats.
The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is derived from the engine used in the M6. A smaller 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 powers the entry-level 640i, while the 640d will return an impressive 54mpg.
