Incredible 1,500bhp, Kevlar-clad Dartz Black Shark SUV revealed

Latvian armoured vehicle company Dartz Motorz has released an SUV with 1,500bhp, a retina scanner and electric shock door handles

Dartz Black Shark

High-performance armoured car company Dartz Motorz has revealed the Black Shark, a car that has apparently been inspired by the cars that the baddies drive in Bond movies

Based on the platform of already tank-like Mercedes GL63, features include a bespoke Kevlar-titanium body, a retina scanner, fingerprint recognition and disappearing door handles with an 'anti-paparazzi' electric shock device. There's also a system that monitors the driver's condition to make sure they are fit for a quick getaway, and sirens designed to scatter crowds.

Most of that technology can be run by the bespoke, diamond encrusted Vertu smartphone that is included, which can also check the vehicle's condition and tyre pressure. All we have so far is a teaser showing the roof, but we can expect the production-spec car to be pretty imposing.

1,500bhp AMG V8 for the Black Shark?

The AMG V8 engine from the GL63 can also be 'tuned to 1,500bhp at the owner's request', which should mean that even weighed down with body armour, celebrities inside and an angry mob on the roof, the Black Shark should be just about the right side of brisk.

Dartz builds off-the-wall custom SUVs in Latvia, and can cite celebrities such as Kanye West as customers. The Black Shark is not likely to appear in the UK (cars that can electricute passers-by are frowned upon here), but expect to see some Middle-Eastern diplomats dominating the road in these any time soon.

Full details of the vehicle's amazing capabilities (and the predictably amazing price) are set to be released on October 19th. Until then, you'll just have to make do with normal door handles on your commute to work.
