Audi R8 Audi Sport edition

Audi has revealed a new limited edition R8 at the New York Motor Show, celebrating the marque’s motorsport history and the R8’s very own racetrack reputation.

Called the R8 Audi Sport Edition, it will be limited to 200 examples and will go on sale from May onwards. Both R8 variants – the 533bhp V10 and 602bhp V10 Plus – will be available to order in Audi Sport Edition guise, and buyers will get several stand out styling tweaks for their money.

A silver paintjob – finished in either matt or gloss – is available alongside black or white hues. However, the sideblades covering the side vents and exterior mirrors are finished in contrasting red no matter what. The front splitter, grille, and insert in the rear diffuser are all finished in a deep black too. It rides on special edition 20-inch forged aluminium wheels featuring a black finish with silver rim edges.

In the cabin, the colours on show match that of the exterior finish. The Nappa leather upholstery uses a contrasting red and black colour combination, while the seat backrests are embossed with R8 logos. The sports steering wheel gets a red wheel centre mark too. On the continent, prices will start at €181,900 (£154,500) for the standard V10, while the V10 Plus version will come in at €205,800 (£175,000).
