Dunlop All Season 2 review

The Dunlop is fine in isolation, but it can't beat back the competition here

  • Score: 97.6%
  • Ranking: 5th
  • Price: £130

A smattering of podium positions and lowest rolling resistance were the high spots for the Dunlop. It put in a decent performance in the snow, finishing fifth in the brake test, less than half a metre off the best. It scored
a strong second in traction and lapped the demanding snow handling circuit fourth fastest, where it proved generally stable.

The Dunlop also delivered a solid but not outstanding performance in the wet tests. Its aquaplaning performance was good in both straight and curved tests, it was a useful second on the wet circle, and equal fourth in the crucial brake test, two metres off the best. Around the demanding wet handling circuit it was fourth, a second and a half off the best, proving itself effective, although it wasn’t the easiest to read and exploit.

It was well off the pace in the dry braking test, ranking fifth and taking a full 5.5m more to stop than the top tyre. It was third in the handling test, although, as in the wet, it wasn’t the most decisive, lacking consistency. It was refined though, netting third in cabin noise, and it was first in rolling resistance, making it the most economical tyre here.

We say:

“Most economical and a decent tyre in most disciplines, it just fails to shine in this company.”

Blackcircles.com says:

"Well received by customers for its performance in all conditions, but especially in wet, snow, frost and ice.”
