Long-term test review: Ford Mondeo - pictures

Our Mondeo is fitted with over £7,000 worth of extra kit, so we've been swotting up on what it all does.

Slim lights feature LED daytime running lights and scrolling indicators. 

The 2.0-litre TDCi engine provides adequate punch, while remaining relatively hushed. 

Rear lights are slim and stylish, too. 

Mondeo Man image has been shaken off with the new model. 

Sony DAB is packaged with touchscreen nav and costs £450. Reception is clear and reliable, and scrolling through to pick favourite stations is simple. 

Its predecessor was taut and controlled through a series of bends, the latest model feels flabby and a touch vague. On the plus side, it's very comfortable and refined. 

We've just got a new Mondeo on our fleet - costing £31,685 with all the options fitted to our car. It's a 2.0 TDCi Titanium model. 

It's refined at speed, but the latest Mondeo isn't as much fun as previous versions. 

The low boot lip ensures loading is easy.

The £175 inflatable seatbelts with airbags are a divisive feature. Adult passengers have been intrigued and impressed by the potentially life-saving tech, but they're not compatible with all child seats.
