Long-term test review: Ford Mondeo - pictures

  • Ford Mondeo long-term header

Our Mondeo is fitted with over £7,000 worth of extra kit, so we've been swotting up on what it all does.

  • Ford Mondeo - lights

Slim lights feature LED daytime running lights and scrolling indicators.

  • Ford Mondeo - gear lever

The 2.0-litre TDCi engine provides adequate punch, while remaining relatively hushed.

  • Ford Mondeo - rear lights

Rear lights are slim and stylish, too.

  • Ford Mondeo - badge

Mondeo Man image has been shaken off with the new model.

  • Ford Mondeo - wheel
  • Ford Mondeo - infotainment screen

Sony DAB is packaged with touchscreen nav and costs £450. Reception is clear and reliable, and scrolling through to pick favourite stations is simple.

  • Ford Mondeo - rear driving

Its predecessor was taut and controlled through a series of bends, the latest model feels flabby and a touch vague. On the plus side, it's very comfortable and refined.

  • Ford Mondeo long-termer - first report header

We've just got a new Mondeo on our fleet - costing £31,685 with all the options fitted to our car. It's a 2.0 TDCi Titanium model.

  • Ford Mondeo - panning

It's refined at speed, but the latest Mondeo isn't as much fun as previous versions.

  • Ford Mondeo - boot

The low boot lip ensures loading is easy.

  • Ford Mondeo - inflatable seatbelts

The £175 inflatable seatbelts with airbags are a divisive feature. Adult passengers have been intrigued and impressed by the potentially life-saving tech, but they're not compatible with all child seats.
