Special Mercedes-AMG A 45 Petronas edition marks F1 win

Mercedes will launch an F1-themed A 45 hot hatch with livery inspired by the championship-winning F1 team

This is the Mercedes-AMG A 45 PETRONAS 2015 World Champion Edition - a new special edition hot hatch to celebrate the brand's Formula 1 Championship win this year.

Like the 2015 Mercedes F1 car, the A 45 special edition gets a silver and turquoise (Mercedes calls it 'petrol green') livery, but the road car also gets a larger front splitter and a large roof spoiler at the back.

You can choose from three different shades of grey paint, but 19-inch cross-spoke wheels are standard. Of course, the alloys are grey too - but you do get an eye-catching 'green rim flange' (in English, that's green detailing in the centre of the wheels).

Inside, the car gets leather or fabric sports seats, plus plenty of turquoise stitching and detailing on the dashboard. There's even a marker on the top of the steering wheel for a sports car feel while driving.

All of the upgrades are cosmetic, so the A 45 still gets the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive system from the standard car.

The special edition will be shown at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and is likely to go on sale in the UK next year, costing from around £46,000.
