The ninth generation of Mitsubishi Lancer.
The Lancer will be competing with the Skoda Octavia and the Chevrolet Cruze.
Mitsubishi have designed a spacious cabin with generous equipment levels.
The chassis of the standard Lancer is shared with the Evo X super saloon.
Mitsubishi offer a range of engines with a 1.8 litre petrol or a 2.0 litre diesel.
The Lancer lacks in driving dynamics suffering from excessive body roll.
The 2.0 litre diesel engine is economical returning 45.6 MPG.
Despite being a hatchback the boot isn't large at 344 litres.
