New Toyota Yaris Y20 and GR Sport trim levels announced

Toyota launches two new trim packages for the Yaris, inspired by its original 1998 model and hardcore GRMN model

Toyota has announced two new trim packages for the Yaris, called the Y20 and GR Sport, inspired by the 1998 Toyota Yaris and hardcore Toyota Yaris GRMN respectively. Prices start at £17,465 for the Y20 and £19,835 for the GR Sport.

As you may have guessed, the Y20 celebrates 20 years of the Yaris nameplate. The first 100 Y20s will be limited-edition models, finished in the same gold metallic paint as the original 1998 Yaris. The roof, pillars and mirror caps will be finished in dark grey.

Beyond this special edition, Toyota will launch a “Y20” trim level across its Yaris range. The package includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a two-tone paint scheme (with the choice of gold, white or silver bodywork), tinted rear windows, fresh side skirts, a new front grille and Y20 badging.

Inside, the Y20 gets reupholstered front seats stamped with the “Y20” logo, and a satin finish for the gearstick gaiter surround, air-vents and speaker grilles. Prices for the Toyota Yaris Y20 start at £17,465 for a manual 1.5-litre petrol and rise to £19,820 for an automatic 1.5-litre hybrid.

Toyota also announced a new Yaris GR Sport trim level, inspired by it’s Yaris GRMN hot hatch. Priced at £19,835, the package upgrades the Yaris’s suspension, with a set of Sachs sports suspension (similar to the suspension fitted to the GRMN), a 15mm drop in ride height and a solid anti-roll bar.

Visually, the GR sport receives a black boot spoiler, two-tone paint-job, a honeycomb grille, tinted rear windows, black mirror caps, black fog-lamp surrounds, a unique pair of headlights and a fresh set of 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in the same Bridgestone Potenza RE50 tyres as the GRMN.

Inside, the Yaris GR Sport is fitted with black headlining, black “GR” branded floor-mats, a sports steering wheel borrowed from the GT86 and a pair of ultrasuede-trimmed sports seats, also marked with the GR logo.
