Renault Scenic

Despite the heavy disguise our spies have managed to catch Renault testing its latest MPV

You’ll have to take our word for it, but this white-suited van is actually the new Renault Scenic, due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Renault’s testers opted for the wedding-dress look to disguise the all-new MPV, which will hit showrooms early 2009, though our exclusive illustration shows how the newcomer will look.

Although its lines are sharper and more aggressive than the current Scenic, the new MPV will major on practicality rather than sacrificing packaging for aesthetic flair. The Scenic will take styling cues from the Megane, but will not simply be an enlarged facsimile of the smaller hatch.

Two versions will be available at launch: a mid-sized five-seat variant and an extended wheelbase Grand Scenic with seven seats. Both will major on interior space and boast more cubby holes than you can shake a five-a-side team at. Seats will fold flat too, liberating extra storage space at the expense of people-carrying.
