Concours D'Lemons 2014: oddball, mundane and awful cars in pictures

The Concours D'Lemons car show celebrates 'oddball, mundane and truly awful' cars. These are the 10 ‘best’ models of 2014

17 Aug 2014

As an antidote to the excessive wealth of the Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week, owners of less glamorous and less valuable classics compete in the Concours D'Lemons.

Cars of any variety are welcome, though to really impress the judges they must either be ridiculed models such as the AMC Pacer, made infamous in the movie Wayne's World, or classics in un-cherished condition.

• The Quail 2014: the best cars in pics

The judging process is equally tongue in cheek with competitors urged to bribe judges to gain a favourable score. So some cars are adored with gifts and even money: one car had a supposed $1,000,000 bill attached to its windscreen to curry favour.

Click through the gallery to discover our top 10 cars from the 2014 Concours D'Lemons at Pebble Beach...

  • This car famously appeared in the hit movie Wayne's World where it was nicknamed the 'Mirth Mobile'. And rightly so as the Pacer's kooky design is certainly something to laugh at.
