Tyre shine mini test

We test the latest tyre shine from Angelwax. Can it beat the reigning champ?

Tyre shines not only top up the gloss of your rubber, but they also provide a lasting finish. And Angelwax has entered this market by adding new Elixir to its range of great-value car care products.

The new tyre dressing is a spray-on liquid formula – so it takes a different approach to our multiple test winner from CarPlan. Tyre Slik is an aerosol and has become a staple product in the Auto Express garage.

We put the two to the test on the sidewall of a tyre – dividing it in half to see which put in the better performance. We made a note of how easy each was to apply, then drove the car for four weeks in all weathers, checking the colour of the sidewall every week – the darker the better. We then assessed value for money, based on the price and how well they stood up to the elements.

Tyre Slik came out on top again – its section of sidewall was clearly the darker black by the end of our test, plus it’s far easier to apply. Angelwax held its own for the first few weeks, but was greyer at the end, and cost more to buy in the first place.
