Beat jams on your daily commute with this new Honda scooter. The Vision 110 is an ideal starting point for drivers looking to switch to two wheels, as it’s good value, at £1,800, and most motorists will be able to ride it after a day’s Compulsory Basic Training (CBT).

But the main attraction is the huge saving it promises in fuel bills. Honda claims the 108cc four-stroke engine gives 141mpg economy, and says the 5.5-litre tank is good for 170 miles-plus.

Yet this efficiency goes hand in hand with strong performance, thanks to the smooth engine and twist and go auto transmission. The Vision 110 hits a 55mph top speed – enough for urban dual carriageways. And it feels stable at these speeds, despite the skinny 14-inch wheels. It’s light and nimble in corners, can be easily threaded through traffic and needs only a light touch.

The suspension smooths out bumps and the long, flat seat is spacious, if a bit firm. Under-seat storage could also be better – only small helmets fit, so the optional top box is a must. Still, the fairing includes two useful cup-holders, and the Honda is a great way to cut commuting times and costs.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★★
What is it?
Entry-level scooter for motorists wanting to switch to two wheels.
Problems?
Storage could be more generous, firm seat, too slow for motorways.
Why buy?
Easy to ride, cheap to buy, good build quality, excellent economy.
