Meguiar’s G220 Dual-Action Polisher V2

Our verdict on second generation of machine polisher.

Meguiar’s G220

Price: £199.99

Meguiar’s new G220 Version 2 Dual-Action Polisher builds on the success of its predecessor by adding a ‘cruise control’ function, plus the ability to replace the brushes without stripping down the device.

Set your speed using the dial on the back, and the cruise control keeps the foam pad spinning at the same speed, regardless of what pressure you apply. This worked well, letting us polish our panel in minutes.

Despite the G220’s bulk and the amount of vibration being transmitted through to your hands at high speeds, the unit is remarkably easy to use. We soon got used to its size, and the handle made it easy to manoeuvre. We also loved the tough nylon carry case.

Included in the price is a five-inch backing plate. But crucially, you’ll need to pay extra for the soft foam polishing pad. This takes the total price to an eye-watering £213.98.
