New for this winter, the Driving Experience allows you to tailor your visit, as you can choose the Porsche you drive on five of the tracks at the Silverstone centre. You can also pick which of the activities you do, plus how long you stay on each. Pay a few pounds extra if you want to drive more than one car or get behind the wheel of a faster model.
Caterham Drive Experience

It doesn’t have the power of a supercar but, thanks to its light weight, Caterham’s legendary Seven handles like a racer. You can get the driving experience for £115 in half-day slalom or drift courses, or take to the track with an instructor from £250. Courses are held across the UK and discounted full-day sessions are available, too.

As well as its programme for drivers who want to try out their own cars on a circuit, Track Days also has a line-up of supercar experiences. For £99, you get into an Ariel Atom at Elvington, N Yorks, but there are other deals at the same price. If a local circuit is important, Track Days has sites across the country with a wide range of options at each.

For classic car fans, there can be no better place to put British thoroughbreds through their places than the historic Goodwood circuit. This package gets you three laps with an instructor in a Jaguar E-Type, Aston Martin DB4 and Lotus Cortina. For sports car fans, try the GT Classics package, with a Ferrari 308, Porsche 911 and Shelby Cobra.
Thruxton Ferrari 458 Italia Driving Experience

It’s our Performance Car of the Year 2010, and now you can try the Ferrari 458 Italia at Britain’s fastest circuit. The three-hour session starts with a briefing, followed by instruction in a Mazda 3 MPS, then four laps in a Porsche Cayman and four more in the 458. For an extra £60, you can add five laps in a Formula Renault racer.
