Dacia Duster Commercial updated for 2022 with design tweaks

The new Dacia Duster Commercial gets a price hike, but remains one of the cheapest vans on sale

Alongside the recently revised Duster SUV, Dacia has refreshed the Commercial version too, with a new trim level and exterior tweaks. Powertrain options remain the same for the Duster Commercial, as does it load-bay capacity. Dacia says first deliveries are due in the final quarter of 2022.  

Dacia unveiled a new ‘Link’ badge this year and it appears on the front grille, while there’s new ‘Dacia’ lettering on the bootlid. Also at the rear there’s a new design of Y-shaped taillights. Brushed silver trim on the SUV’s bumpers has been replaced with a durable black plastic alternative. The rest of the Duster Commercial’s styling is identical to the standard SUV.

Inside, the similarities between the facelifted Duster Commercial and the standard Duster continue. Buyers get the same updated seats and Dacia’s new eight-inch infotainment system, which brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. On the steering wheel we can see Dacia’s new-look logo. 

The Duster Commercial’s load bay is unchanged so it can swallow 1,623 litres of equipment and carry a maximum payload of 503kg, depending on the model. For some extra peace of mind, Dacia has also fitted some extra dark rear privacy glass and a full-length load cover to keep opportunistic eyes from being tempted by your tools.

The Duster Commercial range is separated into just two models, called Essential and Expression. Prices for the cheapest option start from £13,995 (excluding VAT) and standard equipment includes LED daytime running lights, black roof bars, 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, electric front windows, cruise control with speed limiter, an on-board computer, DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB connection.

Prices for the Expression variant start from £18,145 (excluding VAT). Upgrades over the base-model include 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, hill descent control and a centre differential lock on 4x4 versions. Inside there’s a leather steering wheel, armrest, lumber adjustment for the driver’s seat, an eight-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and two USB ports.

There’s a choice of three engines available on the Duster Commercial. The petrol range kicks off with a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit, which produces 89bhp and 160Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, while fuel economy stands at a claimed 45.6mpg.

Dacia has removed the lower-powered 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol unit from the range so power leaps to a 148bhp version of the 1.3-litre van. It also sends drive to the front wheels, but it’s only available with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. 

Dacia’s only diesel engine for the Duster Commercial is a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit, which develops 113bhp and 260Nm of torque. Prices start from £16,485 (excluding VAT) for the front-wheel drive model, but buyers can upgrade to a four-wheel drive layout with a centre-locking diff from £17,495.

The front-wheel drive version returns a claimed 57.6mpg on the WLTP combined cycle, and it has the lowest CO2 emissions of any model in the line-up, at 127g/km. The four-wheel drive model is a little less frugal thanks to the extra driven axle, but Dacia says it’ll still manage 53.3mpg.
