Facelifted 2020 Fiat Talento on sale now

Facelifted Fiat Talento starts from £22,695 and features fresh styling, updated technology and a new engine range

2020 Fiat Talento van

This is the new Fiat Talento van. It’s about to enter its fourth year in production, so to keep it competitive with the Ford Transit Custom and Toyota Proace, Fiat has given it a mild cosmetic, technological and mechanical overhaul. Prices start from £22,695 for the least powerful, short wheelbase model.

The new look includes a subtly redesigned front bumper and black plastic wing mirrors in place of the old model’s painted units. Like the previous version, the revised Talento is offered in a range of body styles, including a low- and high-roof van, a crew-cab van and a platform-cab vehicle. It can still accommodate items up to 4.15 metres in length thanks to the load-through flap in the cabin, while its maximum payload has improved by 9kg to 1,258kg.

Inside, the updated Fiat Talento features textured crash pads on its dashboard, an updated steering wheel and fresh interior trim in either silver or black, depending on the van’s specification. There’s also a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2020 Talento range is powered by a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which Fiat says is more powerful and more economical than the old model’s 1.6-litre unit. It’s available in three states of tune; the entry-level model has 118bhp and 320Nm of torque, the mid-range model produces 143bhp and 350Nm, while the flagship variant develops 168bhp and 380Nm.

The basic engine has claimed economy and emissions figures of 49.5mpg and 155g/km of CO2. However, the mid-range unit is slightly more efficient, returning 50.4mpg and 154g/km of CO2. In addition, all three engines feature a variable-geometry turbocharger, which Fiat says smooths out the engine’s performance at low speeds.
