New Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography unleashed with 542bhp

The new Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography features the 5.0-litre V8 engine from the Jaguar F-Type SVR, and will be on sale for just one year

This is the new Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography edition, a flagship version of JLR’s rakish SUV. It features a host of interior and chassis upgrades, as well as a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine. Available to purchase for only one year from now, the new Velar is priced from £86,120.

The 5.0-litre V8, lifted from the Jaguar F-Type SVR, produces 542bhp and 680Nm of torque. It’s linked to an eight-speed auto box and an all-wheel-drive system, and can propel the Velar from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 170mph.

To cope with the V8’s extra grunt, the Velar’s chassis and drivetrain have been beefed up with uprated suspension, bigger brakes, a stronger transfer box and a reworked four-wheel-drive control system, capable of directing up to 100 per cent of the engine’s power to the rear if necessary.

Exterior enhancements include a new grille, fresh side mouldings, exclusive badging, an updated rear bumper and an active sports exhaust with quad tips.

There is also a redesigned front bumper with larger intakes which feed the supercharger and cool the new Velar’s bigger brakes.

Buyers can choose from two sets of alloys, with lightweight 21-inch and diamond-cut 22-inch variants available.

An exclusive metallic blue paint finish is offered by Jaguar Land Rover for the Velar SVAutobiography, and all models feature a black roof as standard.

Inside, the newcomer gets quilted leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel and unique knurled dials for the infotainment system, heater controls and gear selector. Heated and cooled front seats that offer a 20-way electrically- adjustable massage function are also available as an optional extra.
