Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF 3 review

In a test crammed with so much talent, it takes a special tyre to come out on top – but for the second time in this size the Pirelli proves that it’s the best. The balance of its abilities leans towards the wet, but as you’d expect, it delivers right across the board. In the majority of the tests it scored a podium position and where it wasn’t top three, it wasn’t far off the pace. In snow traction it was third and around the snow lap it was second, although the speed didn’t come as easily as it did with the Michelin, the Pirelli proving a little less positive. 

It was exceptional in the wet, though, topping the table in the key wet braking test and around the lap too, where it was great to drive, with superb feel and feedback, and strong grip and poise. Nothing could match it. It was equal third around the wet circle and a strong second in both aquaplaning tests. 

Remarkably, it also topped the table in dry braking, stopping 1.2m sooner than the second-placed tyre, and it impressed around the dry handling lap, with strong grip, great balance and terrific feel. Its only weakness is economy, but that seems like a small price to pay for a brilliant all-season tyre.
