T-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

Generally a nice car.
Major problem is cost of servicing.
I stopped using Mercedes dealers about 4/5 years ago. A friend, who doesn't have a worry about money, had an estate version (E Class 320CDI) about three years old. His last service cost him around £1,800.00. He told the dealership in Beckenham they nor any other Merc dealer would see him again. He has now got rid of it and bought a Prius hybrid, which de is delighted with and it still takes his golf clubs etc.

51-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

The car does not symbalise Mercedes quality or reliability that was apparent in the previous models. The electrical gremlins throughout the car are those of a low grade manufacturer. The interior is falling to bits even though its top spec with leather etc. The body is rusting away; MB admit responsibility but will only contribute 55% to repair leaving £0000s of repairs. The vehicle will be scrapped out soon as I cannot see anyone else buying the junk.

2003-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

Car overall is very reliable. I have several large speed bumps on my the road to my house-- the front suspension collapsed at 90,000 miles and a rear spring at 96,000miles apart from that I have had no other major problems. It is very frugal with fuel, town mileage around 35mpg and motorrway travel around 50mpg at 70mph . the on board computer demands a service varying from 12-16,000 miles--ł150--ł300.

53-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

It was an opportunity to own an aspirational vehicle viewed for many of my 1.3 million driving miles. The car provided an ideal transport to enable a very refreshing journey, under all road traffic conditions, to be enjoyed and deliver me relaxed at my destination. The gearbox (auto) is a delight and when necessary the tiptronic element allows very precise torque control to be achieved.

2002-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Essential reliability has been excellent; the only problems I have encountered have been minor niggles with things such as loose bulb holders. It performs well and returns satisfactory fuel consumption, given that it rarely sees a motorway. I can obtain most spares at reasonable prices if I avoid main dealers -- which I do whenever possile.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
51-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

The very expensive replacement of the rusty bodywork and the £1,00+ repair of faulty connections to the dashboard digital clock and digital thermometer (I will have to save to have them repaired/replaced) spoils the wonderful handling and ride of this car.

The attitude from the manufacturer is Tough live with it or pay up.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 2/5
53-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

An excellent car which has aged well. I do not normally keep a car for more than three years as they begin to look a little tired. This one still looks like a year old model hence the reason I kept it. I do not like the new e class front and intend buying an M class as I could do with 4 wheel drive.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
52-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

comfortable but not as reliable as previous models. keep on getting the same fault in electrics. also abs failure which i did not expect to have and have to pay for.No choice of independent dealer as only MB owned. They have an additude problem and not the most friendly

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 2/5
X-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

The rust rplacements have been the bonnet, estate car boot door, both front wings. There is now rust on the upper part of the bodyworkk where the boot lid hinge is fixed and the bottom of front doors. Our other car is a honda civic and has no such problems.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 2/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Starts first time every time. I work away a lot - and even after being unused for 2-3 weeks it still starts. no problems with running reliability either - very good! For a 2.2 diesel its quite good mpg. servicing is expensive (as are all mercs).

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Reliability first class apert fom an engine warning light which indicates a problem where none exists. As I only do about 6000 miles pa the fuel consumption is not a total disaster. the car is serviced by a first rate non franchised garage.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
56-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Not as reliable as Mercedes would have you think. But extremely well engineered with ease and pleasure of use beating marketing (so-called "driver involvement" and harsh ride). Perhaps dull - but spectacularly competent in all major areas.

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 3/5
55-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Apart from the CD and sat nav , phone and radio not working great. No sense at all from Mercedes H/Q in Stuttgart. Only 2 weeks out of warranty and 8 months later still not working or anything offered by Merc to offset costs

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

It has been very reliable..however there are quality problems. I am a pensioner and do not drive fast even on a moterway however the best I can get out of the car is aroun d 35 mpg so were mb get the mpg is beyound me.

rust bucket, always going into limp home mode, aircon problems, dash display problems, heater problems, battery goes flat very easily, suspension clunks, other than that love it, would get another but newer model

53-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

IT'S A CLICHE' BUT THEY DO NOT MAKE THEM AS WELL AS IN PAST.
WHEN 3 YRS OLD AND 38000 MILES CAR NEEDED ALL NEW SHOCK ABSORBERS AND SUSPENSION. NUMEROUS OTHER FAULTS PRIOR TO THIS. BUILD QUALITY IS POOR.

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2008-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

It works, it does what it says on the tin touch wood it has never let me down. Could be better but when you buy the car you are aware or mostly aware of the costs. fuel has gone out of any budget.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Driving gear and steering have been a regular problem. In the last year gearbox difficulties and suspension issues in addition to some electrical issues has caused in excess of ł1850 in costs.

Reliability: 2/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

No problems whatsoever....so far. No experience of parts prices, however the 12 month service intervals of diesel engine makes it expensive especially if like me your annual milage is low.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Heating problem, cured by software update.injector problem - new injectors under warranty. Used a lot in europe where diesel is much cheaper than uk. so ok in europe, but not in uk.

it is reliable strong build quality and an excellent drive. definatly buy another e320 sport. my last one was the e280 sport, but this has a bit more power but better fuel economy

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2001-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Generally reliable but niggling faults that are difficult to trace due to complex electronics. Fuel economy better than expected, dealer spare parts can be cheaper than expected.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5

too many electrics means the battery drains quickly i did not expect the car to have so many problems including leaking gearbox and failuire of the SRS airbags system.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 5/5
