The Gordini badge is working its way down the Renault range. So far, the blue and white makeover has been reserved for top-spec models, including the Renaultsport Clio 200 and Twingo 133, plus 100bhp and 130bhp versions of the Wind. But now, the milder Clio GT has joined the ranks. The new special edition is available with the 126bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine or the 104bhp 1.5-litre diesel.
It adds twin stripes on the bonnet, roof and tailgate, plus 16-inch multi-spoke alloys. White trim on the wing mirrors and above the front grille completes the changes. Inside, Gordini branding graces the seats and floor mats, while sat-nav, climate control and cruise control are all thrown in as standard.
Gordini cars first came to prominence when they raced in Formula One in the Fifties. The firm worked with Renault, tuning engines and creating fast road cars, including the 8, 12 and, most famously, the Eighties Gordini 5.
The Clio GT Gordini carries a premium of around £500 over the regular model, with prices from £14,000 for the petrol car and £14,950 for the diesel.
