Reborn Clio Williams to get new colours?

Revived hot hatchback will ditch famous blue and gold colour scheme

Renault Clio Williams

03rd August 2011

The Renault Clio Williams is being reinvented – but it won’t carry on the traditional blue and gold colour scheme.

Auto Express has learned that the legendary Renault hot hatch will get an altogether new mix of colours when it is reborn as a celebratory model to mark the end of current Clio production in 2012.

“The look of blue paintwork with gold wheels was a very distinctive one, but the new car won’t look backwards – it’ll look forwards,” a source told us. “That’s why a new colour scheme will be developed.”

As well as the 1993 Clio Williams, Subaru also painted Imprezas of the era in an identical theme.

The question is what look will Renault go for? What colour scheme would you like to see on the new Clio Williams? Or would you like the French firm to call on the old car’s classic blue and gold theme? Tell us below.

New colour scheme: black & gold

Not too far fetched, is it? Actually quite obvious choice considering their current Formula One cars are also using these colours.

newto74,....go sell tatas...Come on Renault Williams, show the ford/vauxhall brigade what an everyday mainstream hatch can aspire to be in your capable hands, and see if it measures up to the clio cup 225, part of the Renaultsport range which includes megane coupe 250 cup , both cars voted best in their class by What Car mag, beating volkwagen scirocco, mini cooper, astra gtc, etc....not to mentin the speed record on the Nurburgring for both cars.....newto74, perhaps YOU should have stayed on noah's ark!

Never mind the colours, what about the name?

I'm hoping that they won't call this one a Williams at all given that Williams F1 have not used a Renault engine in years (nor have they done that well since Newey moved on).
Now, a Lotus Clio could be something worth having...

Its a shame they wont use blue and gold. hope they do it for a even stricly limited edition version, say 50 or 100 of them.
