We’ve finally snatched our first glimpse of the all-new Renault Clio complete with a
DeZir-inspired nose and sporty profile.
Renault has long promised us the next Clio will be lower and wider than the previous model and will borrow heavily from recent concepts like the Frendzy, R-Space and Captur – and these pictures prove it.
Through the heavy camouflage the curvaceous body panels can clearly be seen, while the shapely rear and large tail-lights look almost completely lifted from the
R-Space.
According to Renault insiders, the new Clio will get a more luxurious interior, boasting improved materials and – as with the recent concepts – a driver-focused design.
Underneath the bonnet, expect to see a new generation of downsized engines, including the 1.6-litre four-cylinder dCi 130 diesel from the Scenic, providing CO2 emissions of around 109g/km. A three-cylinder 900cc petrol engine with 90bhp will be offered, as will a turbocharged version with 110bhp.
A Renaultsport model will follow the initial release, and is likely to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo with more than 200bhp.
Expect the new Renault Clio to go on sale early in 2013, with prices starting from around £10,000.
