Novus Piccolo speed camera locator

Price: £59.99 Rating: 5/5

Novus Piccolo speed camera locator

Get all the features of our favourite speed camera locator for £40 less.

The new Piccolo joins the GPS Rider – our reigning Best Buy – in the Novus range, and weighs in at £59.99.

Compact proportions mean the device is easy to attach to the dash. A long cable reaches to the 12V socket for power.

You get visual and audible warnings, and the volume of the latter can be adjusted so they’re not drowned out by road noise. At the louder end of the spectrum, however, we found that it distorted.

The regular updates were spot-on, although the unit said one camera was on our side of the road when it was facing the other way. We were impressed with the extra announcements to alert us as we approached a congestion charging zone or a stretch of road notorious for collisions.

Monthly updates are free, too, so this is a very worthwhile investment.

 *  Problems? Distorts at full volume, inaccurate once.

 * So why buy? Cheaper than paying for regular updates, alerts users to accident black spots.
