What does a supercar designer get up to in his spare time? Simple: create a super-watch!

Exclusive brand TAG Heuer has teamed up with the man who penned the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati Quattroporte, Ken Okuyama, to produce the new Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Chronograph watch.

It’s a tribute to the legendary Carrera Panamericana Mexico road race, and has been voted Watch of the Year.

The maker claims it’s accurate to one-tenth of a second – but so it should be for £5,500!

There’s a Caliper Rotating Scale, which magnifies the reading of one-tenth of a second, plus two other rotating systems on the face, while Okuyama designed the stylish black 43mm dial to look like a dashboard.

The rubber strap and polished bevel finish provide the quality feel you’d expect, as does the double sapphire crystal caseback, sealed by six screws.

A double anti-reflective face ensures drivers can see the time whatever the weather.
