9. Lights
Seeing and being seen is never more important than during those dark winter months, and additional lights can help.
From 2011, EU rules dictate that all new cars will have to be fitted with daytime running lamps, and several manufacturers, including Ring, offer retro-fit versions (£60).
Equipment supplier Hella also has a range of retro-fit driving and foglamps, plus road-legal HID conversion kits.
