Best buy: You get a lot for your money with the boxy Halfords. There’s a big, clear display, a choice of four scales, plus an Imperial and metric digital tread depth gauge with a colour-coded alert. It’s probably too big to go on a keyring, but easy to hold and gave spot- on accuracy during our test. A great glovebox addition.
