Continental AllSeasonContact 2 review

The Continental is great to use in all conditions

  • Score: 99.6%
  • Ranking: =2nd
  • Price: £102

It may not have scored any victories in the dynamic tests but the Continental is a highly accomplished all-season tyre that is a strong performer and great to drive in all conditions. It was second quickest in snow handling and made the track feel like it had more grip, allowing earlier throttle and locking onto the line quicker, and was adjustable and wonderfully progressive, too. It was second overall in braking and fourth overall in traction.

In the wet, it proved equally impressive, being second fastest on the circuit, where it was praised for its positive turn-in, strong traction and ability to carry speed confidently. It was third in wet braking and on the wet circle, within touching distance of the best, and delivered decent results in both of the deep-water aquaplaning tests. Fifth in the straight-line test was its lowest ranking in our test criteria.

It was mid-table in dry braking, some 3.5m off the best, and equal third in dry handling, just a couple of tenths off the top and, once again, was praised for its poise and grip. Remarkably, it capped off this solid performance with equal lowest cabin noise and the lowest rolling resistance, so it’s the most economical tyre here as well. In a different year, that lot would have added up to an outright win.

We say:

“An excellent all-season tyre that’s great to drive in all conditions.”

Blackcircles.com says:

“Many customers are satisfied with performance in wet and dry conditions.”
