Linglong Sport Master 4S review

This is Linglong’s first time in our all-season test and although it finishes seventh, it’s vastly better than the eighth-placed tyre. It scores its most impressive result in the snow, coming third in the braking test, and its seventh place in acceleration wasn’t that far off the pace. But it lacked grip and predictability around the snow lap, making for a few nervy moments.

There were more seventh-place finishes in the wet, including both aquaplaning tests, where it was a chunk off the standard. It was seventh in wet braking too, taking almost 2.5m more to stop than the best. Equal fifth on the wet circle was another high spot and although it was seventh around the wet handling circuit, it was at least consistent, so you could make the best of what grip it had.

Dry braking saw equal fifth too, with a solid, mid-field performance. It also claimed a win, heading the lap times around the dry handling circuit, which it tackled with good grip and useful adjustability, although it was a close group. Third in rolling resistance adds economy to an overall performance that won’t give the big brands sleepless nights but which offers fair value for money.
