Amazing hi-tech Prius charges to 125mpg

Toyota's evergreen Prius is set to go even further thanks to space-age technology.

A new lithium ion phosphate battery has helped the hybrid achieve an incredible 125mpg. Created by US firm Lithium Technology Corporation (LTC) through its work on the space programme, the cell can store a greater charge. This allows the car to run further on electric power alone - although for now, it's being used for demonstration purposes only.
