Special edition Renault Clio RS Monaco GP debuts at the Geneva Motor Show

Renault has pulled the wraps off a special edition Clio RS Monaco GP variant at the Geneva Motor Show. The signature has previously been applied to model such as the Laguna Coupe, Megane Coupe and Megane RS, with only cosmetic alterations being made to the hot hatch.

Finished in exclusive pearlescent white paintwork, an optional black roof is also offered to customers. A platinum grey paintjob – pictured – will be available in selected markets. Visual tweaks are rounded off with black decorative flourishes on the front grille, rear diffuser, side sills, door handles and alloy wheels.

Dark metal Monaco GP signatures can be found inside, on the steering wheel, gear knob and door handles. Black and grey hues dominate the interior, while the leather upholstery now features contrasting grey stitching. Extra-tinted glass has also been fitted to the rear windows and rear screen.

The R.S. Monitor 2.0 telemetry system is available as an option, which allows owners to download race circuits and review data collected from a track day. Under the bonnet, the 197bhp 1.6-litre engine remains unchanged, mated to the six-speed twin-clutch EDC transmission.

Renault has announced the Clio RS Monaco GP edition will be available in 20 different markets by the end of March but the manufacturer did not state whether the UK would be one of them. Pricing isn’t confirmed but expect a slight premium over the £18,995 price tag of the standard Clio RS.

Errr... Isn't the Clio a 1.6 turbo though?

Good spot - I've fixed the error.

A special edition with a manual gearbox would be a little more interesting...
