Peugeot 308 GTi revealed - pictures

This is the new Peugeot 308 GTi - not R, as we previously thought.

It's powered by a 1.6-litre turbo engine.

The 308 GTi takes on the Ford Focus ST and SEAT Leon Cupra.

The styling is much more subtle than the Honda Civic Type R, which was recently launched.

Peugeot says this car is less for track fun and more for B-road blasts.

The engine is the same one from the fantastic RCZ-R.

The GTi badge is not to be confused with VW's - note the lower-case i.

The&nbsp;<span>308 GTi returns economy and emissions of 47mpg and 139g/km.</span>

<span>In the 266bhp model 0-62mph takes 6.0 seconds.</span>

The GTi gets a&nbsp;<span>Torsen front differential.</span>

The 308 GTi is manual-only, with no automatic option.
