Car polish mega-test

Britain's biggest ever polish test names the top shining stars foryour car this spring

Waxing your motor is the most rewarding of valeting jobs. Not only does it leave the car looking great, but in the process you will also have managed to slow the steady decline in its value.

It is, of course, the most labour-intensive car cleaning task, too - so you will want all that hard work to have a lasting effect, and not disappear after a few days. That means it pays to pick your polish carefully. Some last only a week or so, while others will still give a shiny finish and good protection for more than a month. We tested 24 to find out which are the long-distance runners.

Verdict

Comma's performance was remarkable: it was clearly superior right from the start. Add a decent price and it's a worthy champion.
Turtle Wax will have to be satisfied with second place for its serial former winner Gloss Guard, which remains an excellent paint sealant. Finally, old and new pretenders complete our list of recommendations with Simoniz Original and Turtle Wax Nano-Tech both proving worthy of note.
