Breffo SpiderPodium mount

iPhone mount offers a new way to secure your smartphone in the car

Breffo SpiderPodium mount

Price: £14.99

Secure your smartphone or sat-nav in the car using the new Breffo SpiderPodium. We tested it using an iPhone 4.

The odd-looking mount is made up of eight plastic legs, which are flexible enough to bend any way you want. But they’re not very long, so don’t expect a huge range of adjustment.

However, with a bit of fiddling, it managed to accommodate our iPhone without the need to remove its aftermarket case. We struggled to mount the Breffo up front, because there’s no suction cup or sticky pad.

The cradle can be balanced on the dashboard when the car is parked, but there’s nothing to stop it sliding around when on the move.

We eventually settled on the dash vents, but the SpiderPodium is of more use for back-seat passengers, who can wrap it around the front headrests (see picture).

It folds flat for storage, and comes in black or white, plus there’s a larger version suitable for tablet devices.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★
What is it?
Spider-like rubber grip with bendy legs to wrap around your car's cabin in order to support your Apple iPhone.
Problems?
No suction cup to stick to windscreen, not the easiest to use.
Why buy?
Flexible legs, ideal for playing movies in back seats.
