Garmin nüvi 1695

Price: £289.99 Traffic? Live

RECOMMENDED This large Garmin is packed with features. There’s live traffic, lane assist, Google search, a parking space finder, flight checker, weather radar display and the superb ecoRoute HD function (if you add the £100 optional box). The simple mount isn’t as bulky as the Medion’s, it’s easier to use than TomTom’s Go Live 1005 and has logical menus. It locks on to your position fast, too, taking four seconds to reroute, five to get directions to Glasgow and six to plan a route to France. The screen isn’t as bright as the top TomTom’s, yet it’s easier to read in sunshine. The 1695 picked up all the cameras on our route, and is our choice if money was no object, but near-£300 price means it’s the runner-up.
