iPad mounts mini test

We test two iPad mounts, designed to keep back seat passengers entertained on long journeys

Parents can use an iPad to keep kids amused on long journeys. But to ensure your little ones stay entertained without holding the tablet for hours at a time, you’ll need a way of securing it to your headrests.

iPad mounts are starting to appear on the market, and we’ve compared two different options. First up is Nextbase’s Active. With a price of £129.99, is it worth the extra over the Griffin CinemaSeat, which costs £29.99?

We slipped an original iPad into each of them and assessed their ease of use. Both were fitted into two test cars, to check that installation was simple, while we also wanted to retain full use of the tablet’s features – including buttons and headphone sockets.

We compared how secure each was, and checked there was a range of adjustment. After we noted any additional features, we arrived at our verdict.

While these products have similar purposes, it’s clear they are aimed at different buyers. Ifyou’re simply looking for a place to mount your iPad, the Griffin is brilliant, but the Nextbase offers more adjustment and can charge your tablet on the move.
