Compact AutoMaxi wheel- mount rack goes its own way, with an alloy block slipping over the ball before you clamp on the rack. It works okay, but there is a risk of mislaying the insert. Arms with straps instead of clamps make it harder to keep bikes apart, and while there’s a tilt mechanism, it could be easier to use: you need to unscrew two clamps to release it.
