Audi RS 4 and RS 5 Carbon Editions priced from £71k

If a standard Audi RS 4 Avant or RS 5 Coupe isn’t quite special enough for you, the Carbon Edition might be just the ticket.

Audi has released new Carbon Editions of the RS4 Avant and RS5 Coupe priced at £71,625 and £75,400 OTR. Both will receive an exterior styling package that includes carbon detailing, RS matrix LED headlamps and an RS sports exhaust, with RS 5 Carbon Editions also receiving carbon roofs.

The 2.9 litre V6 engine featuring in both cars will have an increased power output; 447bhp and 600Nm of torque, propelling the RS 5 to 60mph in 3.9 seconds, the RS 4 getting there in 4.1 seconds. The top speeds of both cars are electronically limited to 155mph, but it can be increased to 174mph if you tick the right boxes.

Interiors of both cars will feature nappa leather-upholstered RS super sports seats with honeycomb stitching. Other visual exterior tweaks include a matt aluminium finish to the grille featuring a matt titanium Quattro logo, while carbon detailing can be visible on the window surrounds. Privacy glass will be present on both cars along with a set of anthracite matt black 20inch alloy wheels replacing the standard Audi RS 19-inch design.

Like the standard RS 4 Avant and RS 5 Coupe, the Carbon Editions come with standard RS equipment such as Quattro all wheel drive, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit as well as the latest Audi MMI navigation system. Expect to see RS 5 Carbon Editions in UK showrooms around December time this year, with RS 4 Carbon Editions following in March 2018.

Safety features that will be standard on both models are Audi Side Assist blindspot monitoring and multi-collision brake assist, but for more protection you can spec the Driver Assistance Pack. This goes on to offer Active Lane Assist, Cross Traffic Assist Rear and Turn Assist.

So there is more power and more to look at, but what about weight? Well Carbon Edition cars are eight kilograms lighter because of special milled wheels, with the RS 5 Coupe’s carbon roof saving a further three kilograms. Audi say this contributes to overall weight loss figures of 80kg and 60kg in the latest RS 4 and RS 5 models when compared to their predecessors.
