BMW M4 Convertible 30 Jahre special edition added to line-up

New limited edition 30 Jahre drop-top M4 arrives on sale in the UK, with just 30 units for British BMW buyers

A new limited edition BMW M4 Convertible has been revealed, marking 30 years since the launch of the original drop-top M-car in 1988 – the then badged M3 Convertible.

It’s another BMW 30 Jahre model, joining the M3 30 Jahre launched back in 2016. Like that car, the M4 Convertible 30 Jahre uses the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine lifted from the Competition Pack tuned version, which develops 444bhp and 500Nm of torque.

BMW hasn’t released any performance figures, but the convertible roof shouldn’t add too much time to the 4.0-second 0-62mph dash, while top speed is limited to 155mph.

Elsewhere, more Competition Pack kit is fitted as standard, such as an M sports exhaust system, adaptive suspension, BMW’s Active M differential and a sports configuration for the stability control system.

Buyers get a choice of two body colours for the 30 Jahre. A dark metallic blue supposedly pays tribute to the original M3 Convertible of 1988, while ‘Frozen Grey Dark Metallic’ is a UK exclusive paint colour option. All cars get matching Merino leather upholstery in the cabin, combined with carbon fibre interior trim. The 20-inch alloy wheels are painted Orbit Grey exclusively as well.

A production run of 300 models is planned globally, while 30 will arrive in the UK later this month priced from £76,675 – a premium of £10,850 over a regular M4 Convertible fitted with a DCT gearbox.
