Mégane goes electric

Futuristic cabin hints at hi-tech electric drivetrain that powers the Fluence

Previewing a new four-door electric saloon addition to the Mégane range, this is the Fluence.

It uses the same name as the concept that previewed the latest Laguna, and is powered by the electric motor from the Zoe.

It’s 200kg heavier than the latter, and won’t be as nippy, but its streamlined body, low-energy lights and smooth-riding tyres should give the same 100-mile range.

What’s more, the Fluence’s navigation system ensures drivers never run out of juice.

When power is running low, the sat-nav gives directions to the nearest Renault Quickdrop charging station – and even reserves a power point!
