Peugeot reveal RC Z and BB1 electric concept

Peugeot's TT rival and a brand new electric concept get their first outings at Frankfurt

If there was a prize for being bold at this year’s show, Peugeot would surely claim it. Not only has the French firm thrown the covers off its stunning TT rival, the RC Z, it has brought along an electric concept that’s ready to rewrite the rulebook.

Called the BB1, it manages to cram four passengers into a car that’s 2.5-metres long – even shorter than the tardis-like Toyota iQ – through a smart configuration that allows rear passengers to wrap their legs around the front occupants.

The striking design isn’t like anything seen before on the road, although it does borrow the ‘double-bubble’ roof from the RC Z, in an effort to maximise rear headroom.

Power comes from electric motors mounted in the rear wheels with a total output of 15Kw (20bhp), while the lithium-ion batteries provide a range of 120Km.

Other notable models on Peugeot’s stand include the 5008 – the all-new seven-seat MPV - and a hybrid version of the RC Z with CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
