New Kia Soul EV Maxx model arrives

The Kia Soul EV model updates swap the old First Edition for the new Maxx model with 280-mile range unchanged

Kia has updated the Soul EV line-up with a new model, effectively replacing the First Edition version of the brand’s compact all-electric SUV.

Called the Soul EV Maxx, the new version is available to order now and will be on UK roads this Autumn, priced at £32,445 inclusive of the UK Government plug-in car grant.

The Soul EV Maxx uses a 64kWh battery enabling a maximum range of 280 miles on a single charge, according to WLTP certification. Recharging can be handled at up to 100kW, enabling a 0-80 per cent charge in 54 minutes, while it will take 9h35 for a 0-100 per cent recharge from a 7.2kW home wallbox. An electric motor rated at 201bhp and 395Nm drives the front wheels.

The Soul EV Maxx inherits many of the design features of the First Edition version of the car. 17-inch alloy wheels are standard, as is black leather upholstery. A new single-tone pearl white is the standard body colour, while a new red with a black contrasting roof option can be specified for £575 along with the rest of the car’s paint palette.

Standard equipment includes full LED headlights, electrically folding and adjustable heated door mirrors, and automatic wipers. Luxuries include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, plus automatic air conditioning. Adaptive cruise control is also standard fit, alongside a ten speaker Harmon & Kardon sound system.

Infotainment technology includes a 7-inch driver information cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen with navigation, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also receives a reversing camera as standard, supported by rear parking sensors.
