Mountune52 releases Volkswagen Golf GTI boost

VAG division of Mountune announces Stage 2+ performance boost for Mk7 and Mk7.5 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Mountune52, the Volkswagen AG division of the British tuning firm, has revealed its new performance upgrade for Mk7 and Mk7.5 generations of the Golf GTI.

The company’s Stage 2+ package boosts power from 227bhp to 380bhp – an increase of almost 60 per cent – while torque rises to 510Nm. According to Mountune52, this translates into a 0-60mph time of 5.2 seconds.

The upgrade bolts an IS38 turbocharger (standard on the Golf R) onto the existing four-cylinder engine, with Mountune52 offering bespoke calibration in order to squeeze as much performance out of it as possible. Mountune will also upgrade the clutch if requested by the buyer. The company says testing has been conducted over thousands of miles in order to ensure reliability.

Prices start from £2,099, and customers can install the package themselves or schedule a fitting at the division’s base in Hutton, Essex. A gauge display, adjustable indicator lights, 0-60mph and quarter-mile readouts, a datalogger and a mountune badge are also included, as is a free oil and filter service.

The Volkswagen GTI upgrade package comes with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty. The company says fittings are subject to the government’s social distancing measures, currently in place to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.

The new, eighth-generation Golf GTI is due on sale later this year. It’ll develop 242bhp and complete the 0-62mph sprint in 6.4 seconds.
