Leaked images reveal the V12-powered Mercedes S600 ahead of its Detroit debut

Several pictures depicting the new Mercedes S600 – the latest addition to the S-Class range – have surfaced online. A full reveal wasn’t due to take place until next week at the Detroit Motor Show.

Mercedes S-Class review

The images appear to be brochure shots and reveal the styling of the S600 won’t differ too much from the S-Class models currently offered. The interior will also be festooned with leather and wood trim.

Along with the leaked images, a spec sheet for the S600 was also published. Power will come from a twin-turbo V12 engine developing 523bhp, making it the most powerful non-AMG variant in the S-Class range. Only the S63 AMG (577bhp) and S65 AMG (621bhp) produce more grunt.

Power is likely to be transmitted via a 7G-Tronic Plus transmission, with the leaked specs indicating the S600 should get from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, while top speed will be limited to 155mph.

Further information is scare but like the V8-powered S500, the S600 is likely to only be available as a long-wheelbase model in the UK. Mercedes’ Magic Body Control and safety systems such as Collision Prevention Assist should also be fitted. Mercedes will give us a full debriefing on the S600 following its official reveal in Detroit next week.
