Design cues for Juke and US Maxima revealed in Nissan Concept car

The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept has been unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, giving us a glimpse at how the next-generation US-market Maxima could look.

You’ll also see this design language on future UK-bound Nissans like the Juke facelift due to arrive in March.

The arrow-shaped headlights are a key feature, along with the large Nissan badge in the grille, nestled within a new chrome bar. It’s a development of the design found on the Nissan Qashqai and the facelifted Micra.

Nissan is saying the Sport Sedan is the third concept previewing its future design language, following the Resonance SUV and the Friend-ME hatchback concept. Taking cues from each of those, you can envisage exactly how each new Nissan will look.

"These distinctive design aspects will be applied to all future Nissan models," said Nissan Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura. "Nissan design will possess consistency and diversity which covers all body types, from sedan to crossovers."

"The Sport Sedan Concept shows a new, highly emotional and energetic design direction that takes Nissan's legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan to the next level," continued Nakamura. "The Sport Sedan Concept captures that essence with bold and exciting sports car design and proportions."

This concept is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing more than 300bhp, delivering power to the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. To help improve handling, it’s fitted with a special suspension set-up, which includes performance dampers.
