Nissan is launching an updated Juke at Geneva Motor Show 2014 but that's not the only addition to the brand's crossover stable. This is the new Nissan Juke Nismo RS that will sit above the Juke Nismo model at the top of the Juke range.
The RS comes in two or four-wheel drive, and has a traction-boosting mechanical limited-slip diff on the front axle. But the 1.6 turbo also gets a power hike of around 15bhp, taking it to 215bhp – more than Ford’s Fiesta ST, Peugeot’s 208 GTi or the Renaultsport Clio. To cope with the extra grunt, a tougher new six-speed manual gearbox has been fitted, along with bigger brakes. The RS will also feature stiffer springs.
One senior engineer told us that the entire body structure of the RS has been reinforced to make it as stiff as possible.
Setting the newcomer apart is a sports exhaust, as well as RS badges on the grille, boot and rev counter. Plus, Alcantara trim features on the headlining, dashboard, seats and steering wheel.
Official performance figures have yet to be released, but the RS is expected to be at least half a second faster from 0-62mph than the standard Juke Nismo, which completes the sprint in 7.8 seconds. The newcomer is due on sale in the UK later this year, priced around £22,500.
