Comprehensive instructions and a digital pressure gauge are included in the RAC’s £5.99 kit, but it’s the simple tread gauge we like. The probe is narrow, the markings are easy to read as they’re black on a white background and, crucially, a red band marks the 1.6mm limit. There are metric and Imperial measurements, too, and it’s more solidly built than the Ring RTG2.
