Volvo S60
After much speculation, it looks like Volvo’s future is in Chinese hands – and that’s great news for cars such as the stunning new S60. The gorgeous BMW
3-Series rival has the edge on the competition when it comes to style, featuring a sleek and sporty shape that’s virtually unchanged from the Detroit
Motor Show concept car.

On sale in summer, the S60 has some amazing safety technology, in the shape of a collision warning with pedestrian detection system – it will automatically stop the car if a child runs out into the road. The Volvo will also get a wide range of Ford-sourced ECOboost engines, including a 180bhp 1.6-litre direct-injection turbo unit, which will be available with a five-speed twin-clutch gearbox, too.

Expect storming pace – 0-60mph in seven seconds – plus fuel economy of 45mpg and CO2 emissions of only 118g/km. Add in a luxurious cabin, with light and airy colour schemes, a panoramic glass roof, ample seating for three in the back and LED headlights, and this is one Volvo that really promises to stand out. Prices are not yet confirmed, but the range is likely to kick off around the £22,500 mark. What’s more, there’s an estate version on the way, too.
