New 2023 Mazda 2 facelift starts from £17,750

The new Mazda 2 is now available with a revised exterior design

Alongside its rebadged Toyota Yaris Hybrid, Mazda will continue to sell the existing Mazda 2 and it’s just received a facelift to keep it competitive in the supermini sector.

The facelifted Mazda 2 arrives as the car approaches its 10th birthday, but during that time it’s taken on mild-hybrid power and new technology, and 2023 brings a redesign and upgraded equipment levels.

While the departing Ford Fiesta might be leaving a big hole in the supermini market, Hyundai is giving the i20 a refresh in 2023, the Renault Clio has already received it’s mid-life update and there’s a new MINI on the way too, so this facelift is right on cue.

Priced from £17,750, the new Mazda 2 is on sale now and is made up of four trim levels - Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line and Homura Aka. All models receive a new look on the outside with a redesigned grille, bumper. The Centre-Line and Exclusive-Line get a large coloured panel across the grille, while Mazda says the Homura and Homura Aka have a sportier look. Two new exterior colours have also been added - Aero Grey and Air Stream Blue. Centre-Line gets 15-inch alloys as standard with all other trim levels getting 16-inch.

Every Mazda 2 gets wireless Apple CarPlay, cruise control, Bluetooth and climate control. Range-topping Homura Aka models get black half leather seats with red accents, a heated leather steering wheel and various red stitching throughout the cabin.

Beneath it all, the Mazda 2 sticks with its well-proven 1.5-litre engine, with a choice of three outputs: 73bhp, 88bhp and 113bhp - the latter two both coming with mild-hybrid power. There’s also a choice of a six-speed manual or an automatic six-speed.
