Dacia Lodgy MPV

Renault budget brand reveals new full-size MPV ahead of the Dacia's UK launch later this year

Dacia has bolstered its range with the introduction of an all new model in Geneva - the Lodgy MPV. Available as a five or seven seater and costing from just €9,900 (£8,200) when it goes on sale in Europe, it encapsulated the Dacia brand perfectly offering maximum space for minimum cash.

With the rear two rows folded, it offers 2,617-litres of space, 827-litres as a five-seater and 207-litres with all seven seats in place. The specification is sparce, but options like satellite navigation and Bluetooth are available on request.

The Renault-derived engine line-up includes two petrol engines - the 113bhp 1.2 TCe and a 104bhp 1.6-litre unit - and a pair of diesels. Both are 1.5 dCi units with either 89bhp or 109bhp.

Dacia is yet to decide whether to bring the model to the UK yet, but the budget brand launches officialy in the UK later this year, when it will sell the Duster 4x4 and Sandero hatchback. And since Renault has now axed the Espace in the UK - this could be the perfect replacement.

Also on display was a cut-down racing version of the Lodgy - raced by Alain Prost in the 2011 Trophee Andros.
